Summary:
- Men produce estrogen too! Estrogen cannot be eliminated from the body as itself so it is broken down in the liver into 2 4 and 16 hydroxy estradiol (2, 4, and 16 for short) so it can be.
- 2 are “good” for the prostate and 4, 16 are “bad”.
- Prostate tissue is negatively affected by the 4 hydroxy estradiol and can cause the cells of the glands to divide rapidly–>cancer
